The Music of The Pearl
The last line of the story shows that the pearl is back to where it wanted to be. All the evil and greed was like the pearl calling that it wanted to be back in the sea where it came from. When it was thrown into the sea, the music drifted away as well as the responsibility and the possession of the pearl. The pearl had a great toll on the family, it showed their inner greed and brought out the worst in them. All of the greed and wanting made Juana and Kino lose the most important thing to them, Coyotitio. The pearl symbolizes wealth, hope, and opportunity disguised as greed and evil. It was just an object, the people made the pearl evil. The pearl taught a great lesson to Kino and Juana and the society, that will always be known and remembered through out the town.
